Long Beach Airport is seeking an experienced contractor for on-call runway rubber and airfield pavement rubber and paint removal. - Government buyer: City of Long Beach, Airport Department; Long Beach Airport. - Services requested: - Remove accumulated aircraft tire rubber from Runway 12-30, anticipated approximately 4–8 times per year. The runway is about 2,000,000 square feet, with an estimated 300,000-square-foot rubber-removal area. - Remove rubber from other paved areas as requested, typically at least 150,000 square feet per visit; quantities and frequency are estimates and are not guaranteed. - Remove paint from other paved areas as requested. - Methods and notable requirements: - Rubber removal may use water blasting or a compatible, approved chemical process; paint removal must use water blasting, with water and debris vacuumed simultaneously. - Contractor supplies all labor, materials, equipment, and supervision, and must have at least five years of relevant experience and California C61 Limited Specialty and D38 Sand/Water Blasting licenses. - Work must comply with FAA Advisory Circular 150/5320-12C and applicable airport safety, security, and environmental requirements. Description
The City of Long Beach Airport is seeking a qualified contractor to remove accumulated aircraft tire rubber from Runway 12-30 on an on-call basis, approximately four to eight times per year, and remove rubber and paint in other airfield areas as needed. The work includes providing labor, materials, equipment, and supervision, with services performed in accordance with the stated airport and FAA requirements. Proposers must have at least five years of relevant experience. The RFP requires a mandatory pre-proposal meeting and site visit, and proposals are due November 3, 2026.
