The USDA Forest Service issued a final rule updating timber sale contract regulations for National Forest System lands. - Government buyer: None; the issuing agency is the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), Forest Service. - Regulatory changes: Removes obsolete purchaser-credit provisions and related references because the statutory authority has ended and no contracts covered by that authority remain; also corrects a duplicative paragraph in 36 CFR 223.304. - Procurement scope: No products, services, quantities, part numbers, OEMs, or vendors are identified.
Description
The Forest Service is issuing technical, clarifying amendments to regulations concerning purchaser credit in timber sale contracts on National Forest System lands. The rule removes obsolete regulations because the statutory authority for purchaser credit ended in April 1999 and all contracts covered by that authority have expired. It also removes related references and corrects a duplicative paragraph in 36 CFR 223.304. The final rule is effective November 5, 2026.
