The Coast Guard is proposing remote-operation procedures for five CSX drawbridges in Mississippi and Alabama. - Government buyer: U.S. Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, Heartland District. - Named organization: CSX Transportation, which would remotely operate the bridges from its Seibert train yard in Mobile, Alabama. - Bridges covered: Bay St. Louis, Back Bay of Biloxi, and Pascagoula River in Mississippi; Three Mile Creek and Chickasaw Creek in Alabama. - Proposed service arrangement: Remote operation of each of the five bridges, opening on signal. Mariners may contact the bridge tender by VHF-FM channel 13 or the telephone number posted at the bridge. - Safety and continuity requirements: If visibility, communications, weather, safety, security, equipment, or operator availability prevents safe remote operation, the draw must remain open to vessel traffic. The Coast Guard must be notified, and its approval is required before remote operation resumes. - This is a proposed regulatory change, not a request to purchase products or services. No OEM products, part numbers, or procurement quantities are identified.
