NASA seeks capability statements for Newport robotic motion-control hardware

NASA is assessing whether to compete a proposed sole-source purchase of Newport motion-control hardware for Goddard Space Flight Center. - Agency and use: NASA Shared Services Center (NASA/NSSC) is handling the procurement for NASA Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC). - Proposed procurement: NASA identifies Newport Corp as the sole provider of the required high-precision robotic motion-control hardware and is considering a sole-source award. - Hardware listed in the statement of work: - 2 XPS-DRV01 PWM drive modules for DC brush and stepper motors, rated up to 3A/48V. - 12 XPS-DRV11 universal digital driver cards for stepper, DC, brushless, and direct-drive motors. - 2 XPS-D8 eight-axis universal motion controllers supporting DC brush, stepper, linear, and piezo motors, with Ethernet, GPIO, and PCO. - Response requirement: Capability statements only; quotations will not be considered.  SPECIAL NOTICE:

VENDORS MUST REFERENCE THE NOTICE ID WHEN SUBMITTING A CAPABILITY STATEMENT.

NASA/NSSC has a requirement for high-precision robotic motion control hardware. 

NASA/NSSC intends to issue a sole source contract to NEWPORT CORP under the authority of FAR 12.102(a). It has been determined that NEWPORT CORP is the sole provider of high-precision robotic motion control hardware.

NASA/NSSC will be the procuring center for this effort. Performance will be located at NASA/ Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC).

The Government intends to acquire Commercial items or services using the provisions, clauses and procedures prescribed in FAR Part 12 for Commercial

The NAICS Code for this procurement is 335314.

Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 3:00 p.m. Central Standard Time on 10/9/2026. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the government.

NOTE:  Quotes received in response to this notice will NOT be considered and will not be evaluated by NASA’s Technical End User Team. We are currently only requesting Capability Statements.
