Description
The New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services seeks applications to support Extreme Risk Protection Order (ERPO) infrastructure and implementation across New York State. Approximately $19.5 million is expected to be available for innovative strategies to raise awareness of and increase ERPO use to reduce firearm violence and save lives; awards are capped at $1.5 million per law enforcement agency. Strategies may include best-practice interventions, training and coordination, and data collection on ERPO utilization, and projects supporting behavioral health collaborations are encouraged. Eligible applicants are local municipal police or sheriff’s agencies in New York State employing sworn officers with police powers, including city, town, village, or tribal police departments and county sheriff’s offices.
