NIH seeks Inova’s hospital-based research services and access to patient samples and clinical data for the NHLBI Critical Care Research Program. - Government buyer: National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI), NIH Office of the Director, Office of Acquisitions. - Named provider and facility: Inova Health Care Services will provide services through Inova Fairfax Hospital. - Requested services: - Identify hospitalized patients of interest to NHLBI investigators, obtain consent, enroll participants, collect medical histories and requested samples, and arrange sample handling and delivery to NIH. - Provide associated clinical and laboratory data and correspondence about that data. - Support NHLBI clinical protocols, research activities, patient recruitment, clinical management, program development, meetings, and conferences. - Provide expedited credentialing and research space at Inova facilities for NHLBI personnel and equipment. - Supply a qualified team, including a Principal Investigator/Project Director, Clinical/Research Investigators, and Clinical Research Coordinators. One investigator is specified to work two days per week at NHLBI facilities and two days per week at contractor facilities. - Notable requirements: Inova is cited as having established patient-enrollment and sample-collection capability, including transfer of samples to NIH within 48 hours of admission. The work is described as a renewal of an existing effort; the notice states that interruption to establish equivalent infrastructure elsewhere would harm the program. - Items and quantities: No products, part numbers, or service quantities are specified.
