The USDA Forest Service is seeking a small-business contractor to replace waterlines at the Oconaluftee Job Corps Center in Cherokee, North Carolina. - Government buyer and project location - USDA Forest Service, Southern Region; USDA Forest Service-SPOC East office. - Work is at the Oconaluftee Job Corps Civilian Conservation Center in Cherokee, North Carolina. One specification attachment also identifies the Department of Labor Job Corps program and the center. - Scope and quantities - Install 620 linear feet of 6-inch PVC C-900 water main and replace 8 water services in the 2- to 4-inch size range. - Install 2 fire hydrants with bollard protection, 6 gate valves, 1 blow-off assembly, and 1 tracer-wire system with access box, ground rod, wire, and terminals. - Site work includes mobilization, utility locating, erosion control, construction signage and temporary barricades, turf restoration, and an estimated 620 square feet of concrete/pavement restoration. - Optional work includes utility investigation and excavation near a persistent wet spot, up to 40 additional linear feet of 6-inch water main, and a water-service replacement. - OEMs and specified products - Copperhead: High Strength-1230 tracer wire, connectors/access points, and VIP-MAG ViperMag locator are specified, or equal. - Mueller: Super Centurion A-423 fire hydrant is specified, or equal. - M & H: Traffic Style 129 fire hydrant is specified as an alternative, or equal. - Kupferle Foundry: Model TF-500 blow-off assembly is specified, or equal. - No reseller or other vendor is named. - Notable requirements - Keep the existing water system in service until the new installation has been completed, tested, disinfected, and accepted; coordinate planned outages in advance. - Verify utility locations in the field. Optional repairs are subject to review and approval of investigation findings; more than 40 feet of additional main requires Contracting Officer approval. - Work must begin within 10 calendar days after the notice to proceed and be completed within 90 calendar days after the notice to proceed. - The opportunity is a total small-business set-aside.

This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in FAR Part 12. This announcement constitutes only solicitation. Quotations are being requested and a separate written solicitation will not be issued.

Solicitation number 12441926Q0040 is issued as a Request for Quotation (RFQ) for Waterline Replacements.

This acquisition is set-aside for small business concerns. The applicable North American Industry Classification Standard Code is 237110 The small business size standard is $45 million. This acquisition is a Total Small Business Set-aside. All responsible sources may submit a quotation which will be considered by the agency.
