Description
The grant program provides financial assistance to Massachusetts tribal governments to acquire land in fee or conservation, agricultural preservation, or watershed protection restrictions, supporting restoration of tribal relationships to ancestral lands. Qualified nonprofits and other eligible applicants collaborating with a Massachusetts tribal government may also apply for eligible restriction acquisitions or to facilitate land conveyance to a tribal government. Acquired lands must be maintained predominantly in natural, scenic, or open condition, or in agricultural, farming, or forest use, in perpetuity. The maximum grant is $500,000 for land or restriction acquisitions and $50,000 for due diligence costs related to donated land or restrictions.
