Utah is seeking qualified contractors to reduce wildfire fuel across about 1,555 acres near Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park. - Government buyer: State of Utah Division of Purchasing, for the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources, coordinating with the Bureau of Land Management’s Color Country office (CDC-BLM). - Requested service: Pinyon and juniper mastication across approximately 1,555 acres. The contractor provides all labor, supervision, transportation, equipment, supplies, and incidentals; pricing is per acre and must include all costs. - Equipment and work requirements: At least two operational mobile, tracked or wheeled Bullhog mechanical mulchers, each with a qualified operator, capable of working on slopes up to 35%. The work also includes hand-removing trees machinery cannot process and managing slash and mulch to the specified limits: stumps no higher than 6 inches, mulch no deeper than 6 inches, and surplus vegetation or slash cut or mulched to lengths no greater than 3 feet. - Other notable requirements: Equipment must support loading project boundaries by GPS; provide two roadside flying-debris warning signs at least 3 feet by 3 feet; and be cleaned to help prevent the spread of noxious weeds. - OEMs and vendors: No eligible equipment OEM, reseller, or service contractor is identified. Huawei Technologies Company and ZTE Corporation, including their subsidiaries and affiliates, are expressly prohibited sources for goods, components, or services; they are not approved suppliers for this requirement.
Description
The State of Utah is seeking prequalified contractors to provide mastication (Bullhog) services for wildland fire hazard reduction on approximately 1,555 acres near Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park. Work includes removing or mulching designated pinyon and juniper trees and furnishing labor, equipment, supervision, transportation, operating supplies, and incidentals. Contractors must provide at least two fully operational Bullhog machines with qualified operators; bids are priced per acre and must include all costs. The work period is November 1, 2026 through March 15, 2027, and award is expected to go to the lowest-cost responsive and responsible bidder.
