Proposed transfer of environmental review responsibilities for eligible Georgia highway projects

FHWA is proposing to let GDOT assume specified environmental review responsibilities for eligible highway projects in Georgia.

Description

The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) received an application from the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) to participate in the Surface Transportation Project Delivery Program. The proposed MOU would assign GDOT responsibility for specified project-level NEPA decisions and environmental review, consultation, and related activities for certain Federal highway projects in Georgia, under FHWA oversight. The notice invites public comments on GDOT’s request, application, proposed MOU, and the proposed assignment of responsibilities. Comments are due November 2, 2026.
