Sitka Sound Food and Bait Herring Test Fishery

Alaska is seeking a contractor to harvest food and bait herring in Sitka Sound. - Government buyer: Alaska Department of Fish and Game (ADF&G), Division of Administrative Services, through ADF&G Procurement. - Service requested: Conduct a herring test fishery using purse seine gear; the vessel may also be asked to assess biomass and locate herring concentrations. - Payment and harvest terms: Offerors state how many tons they would harvest for a target payment of $30,000 to the state. Description

The Alaska Department of Fish and Game is seeking quotes for a test fishery to harvest food and bait herring in Sitka Sound during fall and winter 2026/27. Harvesting will take place from November 9, 2026, through February 28, 2027, and use purse seine gear; the vessel may be required to assess herring biomass, and one or two department biologists may be aboard. The department seeks to generate $30,000, and offerors must quote the amount of herring in tons; the lowest-tonnage quote will be awarded, with a maximum acceptable quote of 210 tons. Quotes are due October 30, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. AKST and may be emailed to dfg.contracting@alaska.gov.
