Description
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service proposes to revise the List of Birds Protected by the Migratory Bird Treaty Act. The proposal adds 32 species, removes 7, and changes certain species’ common and scientific names to reflect accepted taxonomy and nomenclature, for a net increase of 25 species and a total of 1,131 protected species. It also proposes corresponding name revisions for species covered by specific migratory bird permit regulations. Comments are due November 30, 2026.
