The FAA is hosting an industry day to explore technologies for detecting and managing radio-frequency interference that could affect aviation systems. - Purpose: Gather industry information and feedback; this event is market research, not a commitment to procure. - Capabilities of interest: Continuously monitor aviation-related RF activity; detect, identify, and characterize interference, jamming, spoofing, and anomalous emissions; and geolocate sources where feasible. - Analysis and response: Analyze waveforms and protocols, correlate information across sensors and operational data, and provide timely alerts, visualizations, reports, and post-event analysis. - Data management: Retain historical data in a searchable repository with flexible query, export, visualization, and reporting capabilities. - Operating environments: Scale across distributed sensor networks and support aviation frequencies in use, including airport surface, terminal, and enroute settings; domestic and oceanic operations; CONUS and OCONUS; and ground-based and airborne systems. - Industry feedback requested: Describe solution maturity and potential role (such as technology developer, systems integrator, service provider, or operator), and provide feedback on acquisition approaches, including purchasing as a service. - Procurement details: No OEMs, named products, part numbers, quantities, or contracted services are specified.
Description
The FAA is hosting an Industry Engagement Event on October 13–15, 2026, to discuss a spectrum interference detection solution for aviation. The event will communicate the FAA’s capability needs, gather information about available technologies and vendor interest, and explore potential solutions for detecting, characterizing, geolocating, and reporting radio-frequency interference affecting aviation systems. The FAA is seeking information on solutions applicable across the National Airspace System and their maturity and potential deployment. This notice does not commit the FAA to an acquisition.
