VA Madison seeks EBSCO Discovery Service and electronic medical library subscriptions

The Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a five-year electronic medical library subscription for VA Madison. - Government buyer: Department of Veterans Affairs, Great Lakes Acquisition Center (office: Great Lakes Acquisition Center - HC), for the William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital (VA Madison); contracting officer Erica Grimslid. - OEM/vendor: EBSCO. The requested platform is EBSCO Discovery Service (EDS), with MEDLINE Ultimate, eBook Subscription Nursing Collection, and eBook Subscription Medical Collection. - Subscription quantity: One annual subscription for the base year and one for each of four option years; option years are not guaranteed. No part numbers are specified. - Platform and support requirements: Integrate with the VA’s SharePoint environment and provide a consolidated search entry point to electronic resources. EBSCO is to remotely install and customize the service, provide troubleshooting, upgrades and system updates, and supply customized tutorials, job aids, and promotional materials. Support includes upgrades to subject databases such as CINAHL and MEDLINE Complete. - Training: VA Education Service will conduct on-site training and in-service sessions for the Library Manager and facility staff after installation.

Description

VA Madison is seeking a new Base + 4 Option Year Contract for EBSCO Discovery Service (EDS), a comprehensive platform that consolidates access to all electronic resources. EDS offers a single point of entry for searching and retrieving a vast selection of digital materials, streamlining the user experience and minimizing the learning curve. The ability to customize the interface and content—along with seamless integration into the VA’s existing SharePoint environment—makes EDS uniquely well-suited to the operational and technical requirements of the hospital. 

The contractor will remotely install the product onto the Madison VAMC system. Following installation, Education Service will conduct on-site training and in-service sessions for the VA Madison Library Manager and facility staff. Once installation and training are complete, the service will be accessible through our local intranet for use by all Madison VA staff
