Utah is seeking contractors to reduce wildfire hazards through pinyon-juniper mastication in the Triangle Uplands project area. - Government buyer and partners: State of Utah Division of Purchasing is conducting the procurement for the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources (DWR); the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is also identified as a project partner. - Requested services: Mechanically mulch, shred, or masticate green and dead pinyon and juniper across 1,100.3 base acres, with 527.1 additional optional acres that are not guaranteed. - Equipment and staffing: Contractors must have at least two operational bullhog machines and qualified operators available. Machines must be rubber-tracked or rubber-tired and capable of operating on slopes up to 30%; cutting without mulching, shredding, or mastication does not meet the requirement. - Site and contractor requirements: Contractors must be on Utah’s current Rangeland Prequalification List for the applicable treatment and acreage, provide GPS equipment that can use the supplied project mapping, and observe site restrictions including designated leave islands, other vegetation, and rutting limits. - Pricing and budget: Bids are priced per acre and must cover labor, equipment, materials, mobilization, and operating costs. The stated project budget is $721,079. - Schedule: Work is planned in two seasonal windows during 2027, with a wildlife-related restriction during the intervening period. The contractor must begin within seven calendar days after the Notice to Proceed and complete work within the permitted windows. - OEMs and vendors: No equipment manufacturer, OEM, or vendor is named. “Bullhog” describes the required type of mastication equipment, not a named manufacturer.
