NASA seeks recommendations for monitoring astronaut temperature and thermoregulation

NASA Johnson Space Center is seeking research-informed recommendations for measuring astronauts’ core temperature and thermoregulatory responses across spaceflight phases. - Government buyer: National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), Human Research Program (HRP), Johnson Space Center (JSC). - OEMs and vendors: No manufacturers, OEMs, or vendors are named in the RFI; no specific products are requested. - Requested information: - Recommend validated methods to measure and characterize core temperature and thermoregulatory responses before, during, and after spaceflight. - Address rest, routine operations, exercise, and re-entry or landing, including the rationale and methodology for recommendations. - Consider technologies usable in low Earth orbit, technologies in development for lunar and Mars missions, and retrospective analysis of NASA Life Sciences Data Portal datasets. - If applicable, recommend future studies for short- and long-duration low-Earth-orbit missions; relevant analogs may include patient populations, parabolic flight, and suborbital flight. - Products and quantities: None specified; this is a request for information, not a defined product purchase. - Performance period: No contract period of performance is specified. The research context includes International Space Station operations through station completion.
