Description

The John H. Prescott Marine Mammal Rescue Assistance Grant Program, administered by NOAA/National Marine Fisheries Service, provides federal assistance to eligible members of the U.S. National Marine Mammal Stranding Network, the U.S. National Entanglement Response Network, and their collaborators. The grant supports recovery, care, or treatment of sick, injured, or entangled marine mammals; responses to marine mammal stranding events requiring emergency assistance; collection of data and samples from stranded marine mammals for scientific research; facility operating costs related to these activities; and development of stranding network capacity including training. Proposals are reviewed for funding selection, with priorities including stranding response, entanglement response, diagnostic labs, and research and development.
