Buffalo Urban Development Corporation (BUDC) is seeking professional services for Phase 2 of the Downtown + Waterfront Area Tactical Placemaking Project. - Government Buyer: - Buffalo Urban Development Corporation (BUDC), City of Buffalo - Scope of Work: - Design, planning, and engineering services for temporary placemaking interventions in 1-2 public spaces, intersections, or rights-of-way in Downtown and Waterfront Buffalo - Includes project planning, stakeholder engagement, site analysis, conceptual and final design, permitting, procurement of materials, installation support, and post-installation monitoring and evaluation - Products/Materials Requested: - Temporary urbanism materials such as paint, planters, bollards, signage, lighting, and seating - No specific OEMs or part numbers are named; vendors are expected to recommend suitable materials - Unique Requirements: - Emphasis on sustainable, reusable, and adaptable elements - Community engagement and outreach are integral to the project - Commitment to MWBE (Minority/Women-Owned Business Enterprise) and SDVOB (Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Business) participation goals - Proposals should demonstrate relevant experience and technical expertise - Budget: - Estimated contract value is $150,000–$175,000, with potential for expansion if additional funding becomes available - Period of Performance: - Installation expected to be completed by mid-year following contract award; schedule may be adjusted based on funding and scope

Description

The Buffalo Urban Development Corporation (BUDC) is seeking proposals from experienced design, planning, and engineering firms for the temporary redesign of approximately one to two public spaces, intersections, or rights-of-way in Buffalo's Downtown and Waterfront Area. This project is a second phase building upon a recently completed Temporary Intersection Redesign and Placemaking Project. The scope includes design, planning, and installation of temporary interventions aimed at increasing walkability, calming traffic, and improving vibrancy in selected public spaces. The project encourages sustainable, low-cost tactical urbanism improvements such as wayfinding, traffic calming, asphalt art, public art, lighting, and pedestrian enhancements.
