Notice of Intended Repatriation of Cultural Items by California Department of Parks and Recreation

Description

In accordance with the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA), the California Department of Parks and Recreation intends to repatriate certain cultural items that meet the definition of objects of cultural patrimony and that have a cultural affiliation with the Indian Tribes or Native Hawaiian organizations. The repatriation involves two lots of cultural items, specifically shell and faunal bone, collected from CA-SAC-395, Sacramento, California during survey work in 1982. The items have ongoing historical, traditional, or cultural importance central to the Native American group, particularly the Wilton Rancheria, California. Repatriation may occur on or after October 23, 2026.
