Description

In accordance with the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA), the University of Tennessee, Department of Anthropology and the Frank H. McClung Museum of Natural History & Culture have completed an inventory of human remains and associated funerary objects. They have determined a cultural affiliation between these remains and objects and certain Indian Tribes or Native Hawaiian organizations. The inventory includes human remains representing at least seven individuals and 29 associated funerary objects removed from archaeological sites in Virginia. Repatriation may occur on or after October 23, 2026.
