Description

Auburn University at Montgomery has completed an inventory of human remains and associated funerary objects in accordance with the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA). The inventory includes remains and objects from multiple archaeological sites in Alabama, with a total of 17 individuals identified and 863 associated funerary objects. The university has determined a cultural affiliation between these remains and objects and several Indian Tribes and Native Hawaiian organizations. Repatriation of these remains and objects may occur on or after October 23, 2026, and requests for repatriation must be sent to the authorized representative at Auburn University at Montgomery.
