Description

The University of Michigan has completed an inventory of human remains and an associated funerary object in accordance with the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA). The inventory identified ancestral remains of at least one individual and one associated funerary object, a lot of glass beads, removed from the Harland site in Sanilac County, Michigan. The remains and object have been determined to have cultural affiliation with several Indian Tribes in Michigan and Oklahoma. Repatriation may occur on or after October 23, 2026, and written requests for repatriation must be sent to the University of Michigan's NAGPRA Office.
