Description

The University of Minnesota intends to repatriate 40 lots of cultural items classified as unassociated funerary objects. These items include lithic material, ground stone, ceramics, charcoal, soil samples, shell, faunal material, and historic material, collected in Minnesota in the 1940s and some donated in 1970. The items have cultural affiliation with the Upper Sioux Community, Minnesota, and are connected to Native American traditional knowledge. Repatriation may occur on or after October 23, 2026, and requests for repatriation must be sent to the University of Minnesota's Office of Native American Affairs.
