The Department of War's Multidisciplinary Research Program of the University Research Initiative (MURI) supports high-risk basic research aimed at achieving unprecedented scientific breakthroughs. Initiated over 40 years ago, the program has contributed significantly to science, economic growth, and revolutionary military technologies. The program is closely managed by Service Program Officers who provide active research guidance. This funding opportunity is open only to U.S. institutions of higher education with degree-granting programs in science and/or engineering, including DoD institutions of higher education and eligible University Affiliated Research Centers. Awards will be in the form of grants or cooperative agreements, with a total program funding of $170,000,000 and a minimum award of $7,500,000.
