Description

The City of Bellingham is seeking written proposals from consulting firms with expertise in environmental planning to provide professional planning services for the Sea Level Rise Vulnerability Assessment (VA). The assessment will inform the City's update to its Shoreline Master Program (SMP) and help develop a future City-wide adaptation plan. The SMP update is required by the State and must comply with the Shoreline Management Act and SMP Guidelines, with final approval by the Washington State Department of Ecology. The VA will utilize coastal storm modeling developed by the US Geological Survey to assess storm-induced coastal flood hazards under future sea level rise scenarios. Proposals must be submitted online by October 14, 2026, and late submissions will not be considered.
