Description

The SSA Security and Resilcilence group is moving away from hand held land mobile radio systems due to the cost of replacement. The HQ Campus and the National Support Center are in need of replacing thier existing LMR systems due to End of Life, End of Support & End of replacement parts. All FSL-IV facilities are required to provide a centrallized communications system for all guard forces, and the agency COOP plan requries a centralized agency level communications systems for emergency communications during emergency situations. SecRes has identified the most cost effective and resilient solution to be the federal FirstNet Commissions Priority Communications system. This system will provide better than 911 priority across all identified agency iphone/stand alone push to talk devices anywhere there is AT&T signal. However, the risk is that if the AT&T cellular network fails for any reason, the devices would not work. The devices in this SSASy will provide emergency satellite backlink to the FirstNet network, restoring signal for the identified facilities in less than 20min ensuring near immediate restoration to communications during emergency outages.
