Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC) is seeking a contractor to perform field-scale, process-based simulation modelling using soil, crop, nutrient, and management data from AAFC research fields in Manitoba. The work involves developing calibrated and evaluated model configurations to assess the impacts of cropping systems and climate variability on crop productivity, soil water dynamics, evapotranspiration, nutrient cycling, and long-term soil carbon dynamics. The contract includes simulation-based evaluation of cash crop systems and exploring integration of cover crops or perennial phases into Prairie rotations, using models such as DSSAT, EPIC, APEX/ArcAPEX, DNDC, DayCent, STICS, APSIM, or RZWQM, along with a hydrology component to strengthen soil water process evaluation. The contract duration is 12 months starting December 1, 2026, with an option to extend for one additional year.
