The University of Minnesota's Polar Geospatial Center is seeking proposals for a scalable, object-based storage solution to support large volumes of remote-sensing imagery and digital elevation data. - Government Buyer: - University of Minnesota, Polar Geospatial Center - Solution Requirements: - Object-based storage platform with minimum 40 petabytes (PiB) usable capacity - Must be scalable to accommodate future growth as funding and storage needs increase - Designed for frequent access and nearline performance (not deep archival) - Supports remote-sensing imagery and digital elevation products - Two design paths considered: - Cloud-based solution (with optional on-premise hybrid) - On-premise only solution - Reliability, modernization, and performance optimization required - OEMs and Vendors: - No specific OEMs or vendors mentioned in the solicitation - Unique/Notable Requirements: - Strict submission guidelines and adherence to data security requirements - Respondents must review all provided documentation, including terms and conditions - Solution must provide a clear pathway for future expansion
Description
The Polar Geospatial Center intends to purchase an object-based storage solution with at least 40PiB of usable capacity initially, scalable as funding and requirements increase. The solution should be reliable, modernized, and optimized for performance with a growth pathway. The data primarily consists of remote-sensing imagery and digital elevation products, accessed frequently and treated as nearline storage rather than deep archive. Two design paths are considered: a cloud (with optional on-premise hybrid) solution and an on-premise only solution.
