California State University, Fullerton (CSUF) intends to repatriate certain cultural items that are unassociated funerary objects or objects of cultural patrimony with cultural affiliation to Indian Tribes or Native Hawaiian organizations. The repatriation involves 42 cultural items from various archaeological sites collected or excavated over several decades, including faunal bones, lithics, shell beads, and historic materials. The items have been determined to have cultural importance and connection to Native American groups such as the Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Mission Indians and the Morongo Band of Mission Indians. Repatriation may occur on or after October 16, 2026, and requests for repatriation must be submitted in writing to CSUF.
