Description

The Museum of Us has completed an inventory of human remains and associated funerary objects and determined a cultural affiliation with Indian Tribes or Native Hawaiian organizations. The inventory includes human remains representing at least 51 individuals and 1,025 associated funerary objects such as ground stone, lithics, faunal bone, shell, soil samples, basketry fragments, and eco/biofacts. The human remains and objects were excavated between 1937 and 1938 from Point Sal in Santa Barbara County, California. Repatriation of these remains and objects may occur on or after December 15, 2026, and requests for repatriation must be sent to the Museum of Us' NAGPRA Repatriation Manager.
