Description

This notice invites the public to comment on the State of South Carolina's demonstration project authorized under section 17(b) of the Food and Nutrition Act of 2008. The project seeks to amend the SNAP definition of food for purchase to exclude candy, energy drinks, soft drinks, and sweetened beverages. The Food and Nutrition Administration (FNA) approved the initial project request on December 10, 2025, and the State requested to implement the project on August 31, 2026. Comments are requested by October 15, 2026, and will be considered by FNA for appropriate action.
