Description

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS), U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) is proposing an extension without change of the currently approved information collection for the Application for Naturalization (Form N-400). This collection is used to adjudicate naturalization applications and verify eligibility for reduced fees. The estimated total number of respondents is 454,850 for paper and electronic filings, with an estimated burden of 8.547 hours for paper and 3.92 hours for electronic responses. The total estimated annual hour burden is 6,734,964 hours, with an estimated total annual cost burden of $423,351,638. Comments on this extension are accepted until November 13, 2026.
