UNLV is seeking qualified contractors to replace the hydronic heating piping system in the Carol C. Harter Classroom Building Complex – Building B (CHB-B). - Government Buyer: - University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), under the Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) - Offices involved: Planning & Construction and Real Estate; Department of Purchasing and Contracts - Project Scope: - Complete removal and replacement of existing hydronic heating pipes throughout CHB-B - Copper piping (up to 2-1/2 inches) and Schedule 40 black steel piping (over 2-1/2 inches) to be installed - Installation of new isolation valves at each floor, building wing, and interconnecting bridge - Reconnection and testing of existing VAV valve packages - Restoration of disturbed surfaces and installation of new or replacement pipe insulation - Products/Services Requested: - Hydronic heating piping (copper and steel) - Isolation valves - Pipe insulation - Turnkey construction services including labor, supervision, equipment, permits, testing, commissioning, and project management - Unique Requirements: - Owner-furnished piping materials; contractor to install - Mandatory compliance with Nevada prevailing wage laws and Apprenticeship Utilization Act - Liquidated damages of $1,500 per day for delays beyond completion date - Mandatory site walk participation and adherence to local codes, OSHA, and seismic restraint standards - Warranty period of one year from substantial completion - Estimated Contract Value: - Approximately $450,000 - No specific OEMs or vendors for piping or valves are named; contractors may propose equivalent materials subject to approval - Design and specifications prepared by Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc.
Description
This solicitation is an Invitation for Bid issued by the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) for the replacement of the existing hydronic heating piping system throughout the CHB-B building. The project involves replacing pipes up to 2-1/2" with copper and pipes over 2-1/2" with steel, including distribution piping serving all floors and associated areas. New isolation valves will be installed at each floor, building wing, and at the interconnecting bridge to adjacent buildings to improve system maintainability. The existing boiler system will be maintained in operation with no modifications or replacements included. The contractor is responsible for removing and reinstalling any affected equipment and providing new or replacement pipe insulation as required.
