Description

In accordance with the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA), the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service, Knife River Indian Villages National Historic Site (KNRI) intends to carry out the disposition of human remains removed from Federal or Tribal lands to the lineal descendants, Indian Tribe, or Native Hawaiian organization with priority for disposition in this notice. The human remains represent at least one individual of Native American ancestry. The Three Affiliated Tribes of the Fort Berthold Reservation, North Dakota has priority for disposition. Disposition may occur on or after October 9, 2026, and if no claim is received by September 9, 2027, the remains will become unclaimed.
