This notice from the National Park Service, Department of the Interior, concerns the repatriation of Native American cultural items by History Colorado and the Placer Nature Center. - Government Buyer: - National Park Service (Department of the Interior) - History Colorado and Placer Nature Center are facilitating repatriation - Products/Items Requested: - 20 sacred objects/objects of cultural patrimony (Eagle bone whistles, Pipe stem, Quilled arm bands, Chekpa pouches, Beaded pipe bags, Cradleboard hood, Rattle, Horn spoon, Leggings, Shirt, Headdress, Moccasin, Horse whip/quirt, Drawing) - Affiliated with the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe - 1 lot of stone tools (objects of cultural patrimony) - Affiliated with the United Auburn Indian Community of the Auburn Rancheria of California - 1 unassociated funerary object (beaded cradleboard, part number E.1987.3) - Affiliated with the Northern Cheyenne Tribe - Unique Requirements: - Items are cultural artifacts, not commercial products - Repatriation is governed by the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA) - Eligible requestors include lineal descendants, Indian Tribes, or Native Hawaiian organizations - Repatriation may occur on or after the specified date - No OEMs or commercial vendors are involved, as all items are cultural artifacts - No services or annual subscriptions are requested; this is a one-time repatriation event

Description

In accordance with the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA), the Placer Nature Center intends to repatriate certain cultural items that meet the definition of objects of cultural patrimony and that have a cultural affiliation with the Indian Tribes or Native Hawaiian organizations. The items include one lot of stone tools likely obtained from the foothills in Placer County or a neighboring county. The repatriation may occur on or after October 9, 2026. Requests for repatriation must be sent to the authorized representative at the Placer Nature Center.
