Free Atlantic Shark Identification Workshops and Safe Handling, Release, and Identification Workshops will be held in October, November, and December of 2026. These workshops are mandatory for certain fishermen and shark dealers to meet regulatory requirements and maintain valid permits. The Atlantic Shark Identification Workshop is required for all federally permitted Atlantic shark dealers, while the Safe Handling, Release, and Identification Workshop is required for vessel owners and operators using specific gear types with shark or swordfish limited access permits. Online recertification workshops are also available for those who have previously completed in-person training.
