This notice concerns the intended repatriation of sacred cultural items by History Colorado, Denver, CO, under the National Park Service. - Government Buyer: - National Park Service, Department of the Interior - History Colorado, Denver, CO - Items for Repatriation: - 20 sacred objects or objects of cultural patrimony affiliated with the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe - Includes eagle bone whistles, pipe stems, quilled arm bands, chekpa pouches (turtle and lizard), beaded pipe bags, cradleboard hood, rattle, horn spoon, leggings, shirt, headdress, moccasins, horse whip/quirt, and a drawing - Part numbers provided for several items (e.g., 2004.24.197, E.983.1, E.2042.1, etc.) - Unique Requirements: - Items are considered to have ongoing historical, traditional, or cultural importance - Repatriation is conducted under the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA) - No OEMs or vendors involved; this is not a procurement or purchase opportunity

Description

History Colorado intends to repatriate 20 cultural items that are sacred objects or objects of cultural patrimony affiliated with Indian Tribes or Native Hawaiian organizations. These items include eagle bone whistles, pipe stems, quilled arm bands, chekpa pouches, beaded pipe bags, a cradleboard hood, a rattle, horn spoon, leggings, a shirt, a headdress, moccasins, a horse whip/quirt, and a drawing. The items were collected by James R. Walker and John D. Howland and have cultural significance to the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe of the Cheyenne River Reservation, South Dakota. Repatriation may occur on or after October 9, 2026.
