Description

The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) has completed an inventory of associated funerary objects in accordance with the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA). The inventory includes three ceramic vessels identified as Ripley Engraved and Taylor Engraved, removed from Caddo Mounds State Historic Site in Cherokee County, Texas. TPWD has determined a cultural affiliation between these funerary objects and the Caddo Nation of Oklahoma. Repatriation of the associated funerary objects may occur on or after October 9, 2026, and requests for repatriation must be sent to the authorized representative at TPWD.
