Description

The Putnam Museum and Science Center has completed an inventory of associated funerary objects in accordance with the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA). The inventory includes six associated funerary objects such as funerary vessels, shell tools, shell ornaments, and pearl beads, which have cultural affiliation with certain Indian Tribes. The museum has determined a connection between these objects and the Alabama-Quassarte Tribal Town, Kialegee Tribal Town, Poarch Band of Creek Indians, The Muscogee (Creek) Nation, and the Thlopthlocco Tribal Town. Repatriation of these objects may occur on or after October 9, 2026, and requests for repatriation must be sent to the authorized representative at the Putnam Museum and Science Center.
