The National Institutes of Health (NIH), Office of Logistics and Acquisition Operations (OLAO), is seeking to procure a Deep Ultraviolet (DUV) 320 nm Laser for high-dimensional flow cytometry. - Government Buyer: - National Institutes of Health (NIH) - Office of Logistics and Acquisition Operations (OLAO) - OEM Highlight: - Coherent Corporation is specified as the sole-source manufacturer due to proprietary technology and unique configuration requirements - Products/Services Requested: - Deep Ultraviolet (DUV) 320 nm Laser - No specific part number or quantity provided - Must be compatible with Cytek spectral, LSR II, LSR Fortessa, and Influx flow cytometers - Unique Requirements: - Laser must enable excitation of deep-ultraviolet fluorescent probes for expanded laboratory analysis - Compatibility with existing high-dimensional flow cytometers is mandatory - Sole-source justification under FAR 6.302-1 due to proprietary and technical constraints - Vendor Participation: - Interested parties may submit capability statements if they can meet the technical and compatibility requirements
Description
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) intends to award a Firm-Fixed-Price Purchase Order to Coherent Corporation for a Deep Ultraviolet (DUV) 320 nm Laser for High-Dimensional Flow Cytometry.
The LP Research Flow Cytometry Facility provides essential cell sorting and flow cytometry analysis services to the Experimental Transplantation and Immunotherapy Branch and other branches and programs within the Center for Cancer Research (CCR).
The required 320 nm deep ultraviolet laser is necessary to upgrade existing high-dimensional flow cytometers and enable excitation of deep-ultraviolet fluorescent probes. The laser will expand the laboratory's high-dimensional analysis capabilities without requiring the purchase of an entirely new flow cytometer. The unit must be capable of installation and use with the laboratory's existing Cytek spectral, LSR II, LSR Fortessa, and Influx flow cytometers, as applicable. The expanded capability will support validation of deep-ultraviolet fluorochromes, their integration into existing panels, and their continued use in research applications.
The Government intends to solicit from a single source in accordance with FAR 6.302-1, Only One Responsible Source and No Other Supplies or Services Will Satisfy Agency Requirements.
Based on the proprietary nature, unique configuration, and compatibility requirements of the equipment, Coherent Corporation is the only known responsible source capable of providing the required laser without substantial duplication of cost or unacceptable delay.
This notice is not a request for competitive quotations. However, interested parties that believe they are capable of meeting the Government's requirements may submit a capability statement demonstrating their ability to provide the required 320 nm deep ultraviolet laser and meet the Government's technical and compatibility requirements.
The Government will consider all timely responses received and determine whether the acquisition should proceed as a sole-source procurement or be competed.
The Government anticipates making an award approximately five (5) calendar days after the closing date of this notice, unless the Government determines that another responsible source is capable of meeting the requirement.
Capability statements shall be submitted electronically to haunp@mail.nih.gov no later than 9:00 a.m. EDT on September 18, 2026.
