Description
The Government has a requirement for the procurement of two (2) 18-inch speed display radar trailers and two (2) 50-watt solar panels to keep them powered. Vendors are requested to provide a firm-fixed-price quote.
The units must meet these salient characteristics:
Radar and Display Characteristics:
18-Inch LED Digit Display: Ultra-bright, high-intensity amber (or multi-color red/yellow) LED characters that are highly visible from distances up to 1,000 feet. Radar System: Must be able to measure both approaching and departing directions (dual direction) with the ability to turn off or select one of those directions.
2. Power & Solar Configuration
50-Watt Solar Panel: Highly efficient monocrystalline solar panel mounted on a bracket to provide continuous trickle-charging to the battery bank. Battery Power Bank: Equipped with one (minimum) deep-cycle marine/AGM batteries (Group 24 or equivalent, around 80–100 Ah total capacity) to provide up to 7 to 14 days of autonomous operation without sunlight. Smart Charger: An onboard smart battery charger with an AC shore power outlet to recharge batteries manually when needed.
3. Construction & Physical Security
Trailer Chassis: Built from rugged, heavy-duty welded steel tubing (typically 2-inch square 11-gauge steel) with a powder-coated, rust-resistant. Stabilization: Equipped with 3 or 4 retractable, adjustable jacks/stabilizers to lift the tires and secure the trailer in place, even in high winds. Vandalism Protection: Secure, lockable steel enclosure housing the batteries and controllers to prevent unauthorized access or tampering. Display Window: A durable, shatter-resistant, and UV-stabilized Lexan® or polycarbonate window protecting the LED face from road debris and vandalism.
4. Controller & Software Capabilities
Local Controls: Push-button, rotary dial, or touchscreen local interfaces located in a locked enclosure. Automatic Brightness: Integrated ambient light sensor that automatically dims the LEDs at night to conserve battery power and brightens them during direct sunlight for visibility. Timers: Need auto shut off after an hour of usage in the event the unit is left on to prevent unnecessary battery drain, not necessarily a timing system with schedules.
