Description

The National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) is soliciting comments on the proposed collection of information for the Arts Basic Survey (ABS). This survey, conducted by the U.S. Census Bureau as a supplement to the Bureau of Labor Statistics Current Population Survey, will be conducted in February 2027. The ABS serves as a shorter, more frequent supplement to the Survey of Public Participation in the Arts (SPPA), tracking arts participation over time with 12 to 14 questions per module. The data collected will support NEA reports and independent research publications and will be publicly available on NEA websites. The survey aims to reduce respondent burden and ensure clear collection instruments.
