Procurement of BL18 In-Vacuum Undulator for SLAC SSRL SPEAR3 Beamline 18

SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory, operated by Stanford University for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), is soliciting proposals for a BL18 In-Vacuum Undulator to support the Stanford Synchrotron Radiation Lightsource (SSRL) on SPEAR3 beamline 18. - Government Buyer: - U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) - SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory - Stanford Synchrotron Radiation Lightsource (SSRL) - Products/Services Requested: - One (1) hybrid, planar in-vacuum undulator assembly for the SPEAR3 10S straight section - 151 full-strength periods, 22 mm magnetic period, photon energy range 2.3–10 keV - Includes magnet arrays, vacuum subsystem, gap actuation, support frame, wake current sheets, taper assemblies, and vacuum system baked/backfilled with high purity nitrogen - Must be UHV compatible, radiation hard, and meet precise magnetic field specs - Designed for 10-year service life with 25,000 full cycles - Spare pole assemblies and permanent magnets (for six full-strength and two end pole assemblies) - Detailed technical documentation - Unique/Notable Requirements: - U.S. domestic end item source required - Compliance with DOE-approved purchasing systems - Delivery required within 18 months after receipt of order - All technical specifications per Engineering Note M927 and Technical Specification FP-202-631-14 (Rev. 10) - OEMs and Vendors: - No specific OEMs or vendors are named; open to qualified manufacturers of in-vacuum undulators - NAICS Code: 333248 (Industrial Machinery Manufacturing)

Description

SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory is operated by Stanford University for the Department of Energy. As a management and operating contractor, subcontracts awarded by the Laboratory are not Federal procurements, and are not directly subject to the Federal Acquisition Regulations in 48 CFR. Nonetheless, certain Federal laws, Executive Orders, and regulations may affect our DOE approved purchasing system, as required by statute, regulation, or contract terms and conditions.

SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory invites interested vendors to submit a proposal in accordance with the attached RFP preparation requirements for BL18 In-Vacuum Undulator. Requests for clarification must be returned by Friday, September 25, 2026. Your full proposal must be received no later than Friday, October 16, 2026, 5pm PDT.
