Sole Source Preventative Maintenance and Rebuild of Vacuum Pumps at NASA Langley Research Center

NASA Langley Research Center (LARC) is seeking specialized services for the maintenance and refurbishment of vacuum pumps at Building B1148. - The procurement is intended as a sole source contract to R. S. Harritan & Company, Inc. (RS Harritan & Co Inc), based in Richmond, Virginia. - Scope of work includes: - Removal of two vacuum pumps from Building B1148 - Shipping pumps to the OEM for inspection and determination of refurbishment needs - Performing authorized rebuilds as required - Reinstalling the pumps, including coordination for wiring, fluid handling, and drive belt installation - Conducting operational checks after reinstallation - Providing OEM inspection reports, technical submittals, and warranty documentation - Safe handling and disposal of fluids and waste oil in compliance with NASA, OSHA, and environmental regulations - The NAICS code for this procurement is 811310 (Commercial and Industrial Machinery and Equipment (except Automotive and Electronic) Repair and Maintenance) - The procurement will use commercial item procedures under FAR Part 12 - No specific product part numbers are listed, as this is a service requirement - The government currently intends to proceed with RS Harritan & Co Inc as the sole source provider, but interested organizations may submit their qualifications for consideration - Period of performance is expected during October/November or as otherwise scheduled with the NASA Facility Manager

Synopsis:

NASA/NSSC has a requirement for preventative maintenance on vacuum pumps. 

NASA/NSSC intends to issue a sole source contract to   R. S. HARRITAN & COMPANY, INC. Doing Business as RS HARRITAN & CO INC 3280 Formex RD  Richmond, Virginia 23224-6370 United States     under the authority of FAR 12.102(a). It has been determined that R. S. HARRITAN & COMPANY, INC.   is the sole provider of preventative maintenance on vacuum pumps.

NASA/NSSC will be the procuring center for this effort. Performance will be located at NASA/ Langley Research Center (LARC).

The Government intends to acquire Commercial items or services using the provisions, clauses and procedures prescribed in FAR Part 12 for Commercial

The NAICS Code for this procurement is 811310.

Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 3:00 p.m. Central Standard Time on 9/3/2026. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the government.
