DOE Seeks Staff Support Services for Tribal Radioactive Materials Transportation Committee Engagement

• The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Idaho Field Office is seeking a recipient for a cooperative agreement to provide staff support to the Tribal Radioactive Materials Transportation Committee (TRMTC).
• The primary objective is to facilitate engagement between DOE and federally recognized Tribal governments regarding the planning and coordination of transportation for used nuclear fuel (UNF), high-level radioactive waste (HLW), and other radioactive materials.

  • Assistance with shipment planning, preparedness, and tribal participation in DOE program activities, working groups, and site visits
  • Development and distribution of public information materials, maintenance of a TRMTC website, and coordination with State Regional Groups
  • Financial assistance agreements to support tribal engagement activities such as training and exercises
• No specific OEMs, products, or part numbers are requested; the focus is on facilitation, coordination, and support services.
• The estimated funding is up to $2,000,000 over five years, with annual budget periods and Go/No-Go reviews.
• Eligible applicants include nonprofit organizations, tribal entities, educational institutions, businesses, and state governments.

Description

This cooperative agreement opportunity is to provide staff support to the Tribal Radioactive Materials Transportation Committee (TRMTC) to facilitate engagement with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) on planning for radioactive materials transportation. The work involves coordinating between DOE and federally-recognized Tribal governments across the U.S. regarding current and future large-scale DOE transportation of commercial used nuclear fuel, high-level radioactive waste, and other radioactive wastes.
