Description
The Research Service at the Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System (CAVHS) in Little Rock, Arkansas, requires a high-resolution Dual-Energy X-ray Absorptiometry (DEXA) system to replace its nonfunctional, obsolete Lunar PIXImus X-ray densitometer. The requested solution is the Medikors InAlyzer2 INZ2-Type M High-Resolution DEXA instrument—distributed in the United States by Micro Photonics Inc.—or an equal system that fully meets the Government’s salient physical, functional, and performance characteristics. This instrument is needed to quantify bone mineral density (BMD) and to conduct whole-body composition analysis (lean and fat mass) in live laboratory animals, supporting the core objectives and specific aims of multiple VA Merit-funded projects at CAVHS.
Accordingly, the Government will solicit this requirement on a Brand Name or Equal basis using the Medikors InAlyzer2 INZ2‑Type M. Vendors offering an equal instrument must demonstrate full compliance with the salient characteristics to support accurate BMD and body composition analysis in live small animals and to operate effectively in a VA preclinical research environment.
