This notice announces the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers ERDC GSL's intent to procure specialized Dynamic Response Pressure Transducers from Kulite Semiconductor Products, Inc. as a sole source. - Sole source procurement to Kulite Semiconductor Products, Inc. (CAGE: 34345) - Requirement for Dynamic Response Pressure Transducers - Used in high shock environments for explosive research - Ensures compatibility with existing hardware and previous data collection - No other OEMs or vendors are considered; only Kulite products meet technical requirements - No specific part numbers or quantities provided - Opportunity is for specialized equipment supporting the Fragment Simulation Laboratory - No service requirements or additional products mentioned - Commercial vendors with similar products are not eligible due to compatibility constraints

Description

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Research and Development Center (ERDC), Geotechnical and Structures Laboratory (GSL) intends to issue a sole source award to Kulite Semiconductor Products (CAGE:34345) to procure Dynamic Response Pressure Transducers. The unique requirements detailed are critical to the continuation of the GSL’s mission and continued research in the Fragment Simulation Laboratory (FSL).The ERDC GSL is engaged in conducting research involving explosive tests of protective measures and various explosive devices documented by modules critical in taking measurements. To support this explosive research, the GSL researchers have historically used firing modules and detonators manufactured by the Kulite Semiconductor Products, Inc. (hereafter referred to as “Kulite”). These specific gauges must remain consistent with existing hardware to ensure repeatable data are collected during testing events and the data are consistent and compatible to data collected in previous experiments. To maintain the researcher’s capabilities to accurately measure needed data, the Kulite products are required.

The GSL uses pressure gauges and supporting equipment to measure pressures in high shock environments.  To maintain the GSL’s capabilities to accurately measure pressure and shock wave propagation from explosive events, new gauges must be purchased to replenish and expand current inventory. These specialized gauges must remain consistent with previous gauges used to ensure repeatable data are collected during test events. Only the Kulite products will meet the requirement.
