The University of Houston-Clear Lake (UHCL) is seeking qualified contractors to provide structured cabling services across its campuses and satellite locations. - Government Buyer: - University of Houston-Clear Lake, Procurement Department - Primary contact: Debbie Carpenter - Scope of Work: - Installation of new Cat 6 and Cat 6A data lines (single and dual drops, with or without wireless access point or POE camera installation) - Demolition of old cable plants and lines (single and dual lines) - Relocation of cable lines within service loop reach - Testing, troubleshooting, and repair of new and existing cables, including fiber optics - Installation of cable or ladder racks (including materials) - Installation of wireless access points (below ceiling) - Emergency service calls (trip rates for business and off-hours) - Penetration drilling using EZ-Path system - Products/Services Requested: - Cat 6 and Cat 6A cables - Fiber optic cables - Wireless access points - POE cameras - Cable/ladder racks - EZ-Path penetration system - Line Items: - Standard drops (single/dual Cat 6 or Cat 6A cables) - Drops with WAP or POE camera install - Demolition and relocation services - Hourly rates for technicians, demolition, fiber testing/repair, WAP installation - Flat-rate troubleshooting/repair for out-of-warranty lines - Trip rates for emergency calls - Per penetration cost (EZ-Path) - Unique Requirements: - Certified technicians required - Compliance with ANSI/TIA standards - Detailed documentation and quality assurance - No specific OEMs or brands mandated; open to qualified vendors - Contract term: three years with two one-year renewal options (up to five years) - No guaranteed minimum or maximum job orders or dollar amount - Compliance with Texas state subcontracting and HUB requirements - CTCD certification referenced - Estimated contract value: $300,000 - No specific OEMs or brands are named; opportunity is open to all qualified providers of structured cabling solutions.

Description

The University of Houston-Clear Lake is seeking a contractor to perform as needed day to day installation of data lines, troubleshooting, demolition of old cable plants, testing, and other fiber and data lines. The work includes installation of new Cat 6 and/or 6a data lines, troubleshooting of out of warranty lines, demolition of old cable plants, testing new and existing cables including fiber optics, troubleshooting and terminating fiber, and installation of wireless access points throughout the University. The University does not guarantee any minimum or maximum number of job orders or dollar amount associated with the proposal. A mandatory pre-proposal meeting will be held on September 8, 2026, at 2:30 pm CT.
