Description

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is changing the administrative process for authorizing seasonal migratory game bird hunting in the United States. The new process will issue a memorandum every 3 years to establish limits and authorize hunting, replacing the current annual Federal regulation promulgation. Annual decisions on harvest levels will continue, with updates to the memorandum as needed. This change aims to increase efficiency, reduce complexity and costs, and better serve State, Tribal, and Federal partners while meeting legal and conservation goals under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act.
