Description

In accordance with the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA), Arizona State University, Center for Archaeology and Society Repository (ASU CASR) acting on behalf of the Arizona State University School of Human Evolution and Social Change (ASU SHESC) intends to repatriate certain cultural items defined as sacred objects. These items have cultural affiliation with Indian Tribes or Native Hawaiian organizations, specifically the Oodham cultural group. The repatriation may occur on or after September 30, 2026. The items include four baskets, one bone awl, and a jar, with cultural ties to the Ak-Chin Indian Community, Gila River Indian Community, Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community, and the Tohono Oodham Nation of Arizona.
